Sumner Shortcuts

Sumner Shortcuts has some pretty exciting stuff on the horizon, and we’re finally able to tell you about some of it.

On September 20th, Hendersonville’s Rotary Club will be putting on their annual Festival By The Lake in Drake’s Creek Park.  It’s filled with fun:  live music all day, food, vendors, games, activities, and so much more.

And this year there’s a brand new event that we think is going to be huge… the Madden ‘09 tournament.  That’s right all you gamers and sports fans, this year’s Festival will feature a day-long Xbox 360 Madden ‘09 tournament, sponsored by Sumner Shortcuts.  And the winner will go home with a sweet prize–as will the 2nd place finisher. Pretty cool, huh?

Now, because even a short game of Madden can take 15-25 minutes, we have to limit the competition somewhat.  If we let 100 people compete, the tournament would last well past the following Tuesday.  And that’s just no good.

So we’re going to limit the tournament to about 20 contestants.  These contestants will be determined by random drawing, live at the booth on the day of the Festival.  We’ll set up the Xbox and let folks get warmed up on the game and signed up for the drawing throughout the morning.  Then, around noon, we’ll draw names for the tournament.  It’ll be a basic bracket–March Madness style.  Winner takes all.

However, for you fine readers who are alert and paying attention… we’re extending an invitation for early tournament sign-up online, starting right… this… second.  The first 4 people to email us at sumnershortcuts@gmail.com will have a spot held for them in the tournament.  Of course, if you don’t show up for your game… we’ll have to let one of the stand-by contestants take your place.

And if you’re not into video games–fear not.  We’ll also be holding drawings for special Sumner Shortcuts prize packs.  And we’ll have t-shirts and some awesome deal coupons to hand out all day as well.
