Speed Traps in Sumner - Rockland Road
Tue, Jun 17, 2008
Rockland Road is a nice little shortcut in Hendersonville that can help beat the bulk of the morning and afternoon traffic. It starts near the Post Office and runs parallel to Gallatin Road (Main Street) all the way down to the edge of the city limits.
Problem is, as more commuters have turned to Rockland Road to make better time, many of them have assumed the speed limits are also parallel to Gallatin Road’s (45mph). They’re not. Nothing more than 35mph allowed on Rockland.
And it’s one of the local police officers’ favorite spots to catch speeders unaware. Usually on the north side of the road, I see an officer there no less than once or twice a week.
So if you’re headed down Rockland… please drive slowly and safely. Avoid a ticket for yourself and keep the rest of us a bit safer at the same time. Everyone wins.
