Holy Gas Price Drop, Batman!
Wed, Oct 1, 2008
Dodge’s Store, at Center Point Road and 31E in Hendersonville, currently has regular unleaded for sale at $3.04 a gallon.
What?!
Every other station between here and there (including the Mapco across the street) is at $3.69 or above.
So what gives? I can think of two possible explanations. Gas prices, to my understanding, are largely based on the market, and oil has dipped the last few days. So maybe Dodge’s just got a new shipment that was purchased at a much lower price… so they have the cheapest gas in town by a long shot until the other stations get their cheaper shipments in.
Or… Dodge’s woke up this morning and decided to intentionally anger the other gas stations in town by dropping their price dramatically.
Either way, there’s a long line of cars reminiscent of our recent gas shortage. But there’s no shortage. Every station has gas. But only one has it at the alarmingly low price of $3.04. You can save several dollars by filling up there… if you can stand waiting in line.
If you’re like me, you filled up yesterday and now you want to stab your own eyeballs.
Anyway. Should be interesting to see if all the other stations in town come down to match in the next 24 hours or so. If they do… I propose we have a county-wide party, because $2.00 gas can’t be far behind.
