Consumer Alerts, Gas Prices, Sumner County News, Tennessee Focus
The schedule has been announced for the new Gallatin-to-Nashville commuter bus service. Beginning on Monday, the Regional Transportation Authority will run routes from Gallatin and Hendersonville to Nashville.
There are pick up times of 5:45am and 6:30am for folks in Gallatin–pick up is at the Wal-Mart. For Hendersonvillians, the pick up is at Khol’s in the Glenbrook shopping center at 6:05am and 6:50am.
So here’s your chance to save on gas money and hitch a ride to Nashville’s downtown or Vanderbilt areas. I’m assuming the buses will pick you up and return you to Sumner County at the day’s end, though there is no mention of that in the article.
The article does state, however, that the buses have a TV and a bathroom. Sweeeeeet!
I can’t think of a better time and cultural climate to launch a commuter bus service than the waning days of a gas shortage. Unfortunately for me, I live and work in Hendersonville. So I can’t really take advantage of this. (On a side note, I also can’t ditch my car and bike to work, as I would like to, because the City of Hendersonville has some secret long-standing vendetta against sidewalks on main roads).
Maybe if the RTA is successful with this venture, they’ll roll out some special routes for events like Predators games… that would be cool.
