Indian Lake Village Is Going To Be Gigantic
Thu, Jun 26, 2008
This article is several months old, but gives lots of good details about the ever-growing Indian Lake Village area in Hendersonville that most citizens probably don’t know.
It’s going to be gigantic. Huge. More that twice the size of simiar developments in Murfreesboro & Mount Juliet. Bigger than Cool Springs. More retail space than Rivergate.
Read that again, folks: more retail space than Rivergate. Yikes!
Here are some more details you might not have heard yet:
- it’s a $1 Billion development
- there are major US corporations considering headquartering themselves in Indian Lake Village
- a high-end car dealership is planned
- Costco is a rumored tenant
- many Rivergate Mall stores are considering moving locations
- a Hampton Inn is going in
- there will be parks and walking trails
- the new library is on track to open in September or October
- it’s expected to create hundreds (if not thousands) of jobs
- the entire development is over 1.5 Million square feet on 435 acres
- office-space tenants have begun moving in
- there will be 1,100 homes, townhomes, and lofts for residential space
- an elementary and middle school are planned
- they’re going to build an additional exit off Vietnam Veterans that filters directly into Indian Lake village
- a light-rail train to Nashville is being discussed
Wow. The train to Nashville is, to me, especially exciting. As gas prices continue to rise, the prospect of getting downtown without driving your own car is quite attractive.
But if you thought the traffic was bad now… if you thought the “commercialism” of the area was bad now… just wait. It’s only going to get worse.
The trade off, though, is probably worth it. If we can put up with some traffic congestion and losing a little bit of that “country” feel… the surplus revenue and jobs for the county will be a win for everyone.
