So the Sumner Shortcuts gang is pretty nuts about Fulin’s Asian Cuisine–in the Wal-Mart shopping center on Indian Lake Blvd.  We’ve been there three times in the last month.

The decor is upscale, the waitstaff are very attentive, and the food–while pricey–is some of the best Asian food you can get in Sumner County.

Oh, and the kitchen is apparently not all that clean or hygienic.  On our most recent visit, we actually saw a centipede wiggling across the floor as we were leaving–gave me the shudders.

But don’t take my word for it… take the state of TN’s word. They gave Fulin’s a 60 on their most-recent health inspection.  Here’s just a sampling of the food safety items they got docked on:

• Sanitization rinse clean, temperature, concentration, exposure time, equipment, utensils sanitized
• Sewage and waste water disposal
• Toxic items properly stored, labeled, used
• Containers or receptacles, covered, adequate number, insect and rodent proof, frequency, clean
• Hands washed and clean, good hygienic practices
• Potentially hazardous food properly thawed

Hmmm… “toxic items?”  Yikes.  “Insect and rodent proof?”  Not so much.  “Hands washed?”  Ewwww.

Man, I really hate writing this, because I think Fulin’s has some of the best asian food around.  But you may want to give them a few weeks to get their act together before venturing in.  They will get another follow-up visit from the health inspector very soon, which will give them a chance to prove they’ve corrected the errors–we’ll try and keep an eye on it so we can let you know when they do.
