Safety Changes Coming To Vietnam Veterans In Wake Of Fatal Crash
Tue, May 19, 2009
The most recent accidents on Vietnam Veterans Parkway have everyone on edge about safety. One of the good things that is coming out of these tragedies is a closer look at improving safety on that highway… specifically the sharp curve where last week’s accident took place.Â
The current talk is about placing cable barriers along that treacherous curve, to help prevent future drivers crossing the median into oncoming traffic.Â
I have no personal preference in what type of barriers are used (concrete, cable, etc.); I’m just entirely on board with the decision to add some kind of barrier. I drive that stretch of Vietnam Vets at New Shackle probably 6 or 7 times a week–going the same direction as the driver who was struck and killed last week–and I’d feel a little safer knowing something stood between myself and any possible erratic drivers.Â
